Back in the water again!!!

We finally got back in the water on Thursday afternoon. We were in the boat yard for 16 days and glad to be out of there. It is a very busy place and lots of grinding, sanding, and equipment running. Also very dirty from all the dust in the air. But everything seems to be working now.
We are anchored up in a little bay on the east side of Lummi Island, across the bay from Bellingham.Very pretty here. There is a water fall coming down the rocks and lots of birds singing. Tomorrow we will go to Anacortes to get fuel for the trip north and food and supplies. Will probably spend another week in the San Jaun Islands before crossing over to Canada. That's about it for now. Hope everyone is well. Russ,Pat,and Maddie

Waiting for repairs

The boat is all painted but we are still waiting for repairs to our stabilizers. The yard tried to work on them today but did not get to far since they don't know anything about this system and I don't have a manual for them. So we are going to try a get a guy from another boat yard in Seattle to come up this week. He sounds like he's worked on these before. So we are passing the time finding little things to fix. I ran out of sandpaper today and none of the stores close by carry the kind I need for my sander. I should have brought a small motorcycle instead of a bicycle. Will post again when there is more to report.

Haulout 2009

On Tuesday we had the boat pulled out of the water in Bellingham. It weighed in at 94,000 pounds with full water tanks and nearly full fuel tanks.Wednesday we spent the day painting the bottom and fixing little things. Thursday we did more painting and we are scheduled to go back in the water Saturday morning. We have been living on the boat while we are here. It's lots of fun climbing up and down the ladder all day.
Hope everyone is ok. Regards, Russ,Pat, and Maddie

Alaska Trip 2009

We're on our way! After years of talking about this trip and months of planning for it,we left Everett April 1 ,destination: Alaska. The first week we have spent in the San Juan Islands just making sure every thing is going to work ok. We will go to Bellingham on the 14th to pull the boat out and paint the bottom and fix the stabilizers. Then we head north. Probably will spend several weeks in the Canadian Gulf Islands waiting for the weather to warm up a little more and the storms to settle down a little. This picture was taken at James Island State Park just a short ways from Anacortes. We spent several nights here. Our dog Maddie is taking to the boat life real well. She learned real fast how cold the water is when she ran off the beach. Every thing has worked fine so far. Hope everyone is well at home.
